Task 2. Initial Genre Research

Genre is a "Type" in relation to music it could be
Pop, Rock, Jazz, Indie

Genres can by hybrids (2 or more genres spliced together) e.g. indie pop, rock pop etc.

All genres have a set of traits ( a repertoire) including specific;

  • costume
  • locations
  • colours
  • themes
  • representations
  • Props
There is much research online about music videos and genre. Your task is to create a google slide presentation that outlines a definition of genre then analyses 3 genres of music - identify the forms and conventions of the genre, examples of artists in that genre. Locate and embed examples of music videos (appropriate ones!), websites and digipaks for that artist, identify what traits of the genre your chosen videos exhibit (this could be done via annotated screen shots).

Task 1. Analysing music videos using Goodwin's theory

Go through the prezi created by Nicola and then complete the task.
Please present the research on google slides or a prezi as we will be making your A2 blogs after half term - we can then embed the research. Your presentations can follow the same structure as mine.
